Don't reward such a pet UN-friendly place as the Fairmont Chateau Laurier with your business
It used to be that you couldn't leave your dog alone in the room (even with the Do Not Disturb sign on the door)...meaning...you couldn't do anything but sit in your room or take your dog for walks. Forget about eating out at restaurants or going to a show, a museum, a gallery, or shopping. None of these places accept dogs, so you'd leave them at home, if you wanted to do these things in your home town. When staying at a hotel, one's rooms is supposed to be "home". But not at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier. (The hysterics there discriminate against dog owners...or some dog owners...because they legally still can. They should be ashamed of themselves.)
Now I see they've changed their pet policy to read, "small dogs". Well...that leaves us out. Forget that only 10-20% of "small dogs" are obedience trained (where over 80% of "large dogs" have received such training), and many of them are poorly housebroken...all significant concerns when a dog will be staying for one or more days.
My silent, scrupulously clean, obedience trained, and socialized to perfection dog is not welcome. That means that I'm not welcome.
Frankly, I wouldn't waste my time trying to prove my "worthiness" to a company that flat out doesn't want my business.
My husband, myself, and my dog book only King Suites, and we travel extensively. If I contacted the hotel manager, he/she WOULD make an exception for us (as they've done at every other hotel at which we've had to make such a request). But I've been travelling with dogs for too long now to let them get away with this kind of discrimination any longer.
My Amex card is as platinum as the next. Children and other human guests have, and will, do more damage and use more hotel services than we
ever will.
The Fairmont Chateau Laurier has lost our business forever.
If you stay at this hotel, you'll be rewarding discrimination against perfectly innocent and law-abiding citizens. Please don't. I don't deserve it.
